Green Stands Out in OVU Wrestling Losses

Vienna, W.Va. (February 7, 2015)- The Fighting Scots wrestling team dropped two losses today in their tri-match against University of #19 in the country Pitt-Johnstown and Tiffin University. The Fighting Scots were short a few wrestlers once again to injury in their 33-14 (UPJ) and 42-3 (TU) losses.

OVU did well against Pitt-Johnstown who is 4th in our region and #19 in NCAA DII. The Fighting Scots started the match with four forfeits giving UPJ 24 of their 33 points. In the six matches that did take place between these two teams OVU won four. OVU senior, Tyler Green won by a 5-1 decision in the 149 lb. weight class giving OVU their first three points. He was followed by junior, Eli Stewart who won by an 8-4 decision at 157 lb. Junior, Jabari Irons was back on his feet today after a tough loss against Tech grabbing a 17-6 major decision win for the Fighting Scots. Senior, Chase Long followed right along with a big 14-1 major decision win at 197 lb. to round out OVU's 14 points.

In the Fighting Scots second match of the day, senior Tyler Green would be the only Scot to put points on the board. Green won a 7-4 decision over Tiffin's Jett Hurt. Jabari Irons came up just short in a 1-0 loss against his Tiffin opponent.

The Fighting Scots have one more match against Liberty University on February 17th and from there will be gearing up for the Super Region 1 tournament that will be held at West Liberty University this year. From there the Fighting Scots hope to have several national qualifiers.
