Fighting Scots Slay Golden Bears in Home Opener, 40-6

Vienna, W.Va. – The Ohio Valley Fighting Scots won 4 of 6 contested bouts in a dual with WVU Tech in the first home match of the season in the Snyder Activity Center.

  The Golden Bears came in with four forfeits either by weight or injuries.  With the four forfeits and the four wins the Scots won by the margin of 40-6. 

The best bout of the night was won by 197 lb. sophomore Tyler Koreski (Parkersburg, W.Va.) as he defeated his Golden Bears opponent Terry Nance II in the fifth overtime.  Koreski escaped in the seventh period to give him the winning margin in the match, 6-5.

  Dalton George 165 lb. (Williamstown, W.Va.) finished his second match of the season with his second pin at 3:58 in the match.  Marcus Miller 174 lb. (Lynchburg, Va.) won his second match of the year with a 3-2 decision over his golden bear opponent Colton Rowe.

  The other win on the mat came from Colton Nangle (Washington, W.Va.) as he won by majority over his opponent 10-0 at the 133 lb. weight class 

The Scots received forfeits was Anthony Tripke 125 lb. (North Port, Fla.) Levi Congleton (Belpre,Ohio) 141 lb. Eli Stewart 149 lb. (Goode, Va.), and Nicholoz Varazashvlvilli (Columbus, Ohio) 157 lb. 

The Golden Bears received two wins by Will Van Hoose by a 4-1 decision over Austin Antill (Fleming, Ohio) and Jason Wainwright defeated Ben Willard (Fort Myers, Fla.) 3-1 decision. 

The Scots will travel to Alliance, Ohio this weekend as they will wrestle in the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday.
