Ohio Valley Wrestlers Open Season

CLARION, Pa.  – The Ohio Valley University grapplers opened their season Sunday as they traveled to participate in the Clarion Open.  It was a chance for the wrestlers to get their season started and get some experience before the dual season starts.

Leading the way for the Scots was freshman T.J. Lambiotte (Mineral Wells, West Virginia) wrestling in the 165 lb. weight class, he posted three wins on the day.  His best result came when he pinned Tanner Vogel from Pitt Johnstown in 46 seconds. Lambiotte also won by decision over Nathan Russell from Pittsburgh 6-5 and Cullen Woolford from Eddinboro 4-3.

At  the 133 lb. weight class Riley White (Spencer, West Virginia) won one match on the mat and one with a forfeit on the day earning a 2-2 record.  His victory was a 6-5 decision over Colin Shuster from Kent State.

Dalton George (Willliamstown, West Virginia) suffered through a mixed day as he defeated Dom Rigus from Clarion 9-7: however, he was pinned by Jared Seigrest Manheim from Lock Haven at 5:43. George also had to forfeit another match due to an injury before the match started.

Other Scots wrestling Sunday and their records: Anthony Tripke (North Port, Florida) 0-2, Sam Phillips (Parkersburg, West Virginia) 0-2, Ali Copabianco (Albrightsville, Pennsylvania) 0-2, Tyler Koreski (Parkersburg, West Virginia) 0-2 with a medical walkover in his favor and Cameron Coffman (New Lebanon, Ohio) 0-2.

The Scots will be back in action this coming Saturday, as they will travel to Alliance, Ohio for the Mount Union Open.  Wrestling will begin at 10 AM and you will be able to follow along with live stats.
