Fighting Scots Suffer First Dual Loss of the Season

WHEELING, W.Va. – A depleted Fighting Scot wrestling team lost a dual meet with Wheeling Jesuit on Friday night by a 46-6 score. The Scots were only able to muster a team roster of six wrestlers going into the match against the Cardinals because of injuries to the team.
The only points of the night for the Scots came in a forfeit in the first match as Anthony Tripke (North Port, Florida) picked up the walkover in the first bout at 125. From then on the Scots were not able to must another point in the match.
The best match of the night came at the 133 lb. weight class as Freshman Riley White (Spencer, West Virginia) lost in the first period of sudden victory 5-3 on a take down to Cardinal Jaylen Hill. With the victory the Cardinals would close the gap to 6-3 and it would be the last team lead for the Scots.
Freshman T.J. Lambiotte (Mineral Wells, West Virginia) took his opponent Keegan Driscoll the full distance losing in a 7-4 decision. Other decisions on the mat were Maverick Meeks (New Philadelphia, Ohio) losing in a technical fall 20-5.
In the other two matches Samuel Phillips (Parkersburg, West Virginia) also lost by technical fall 17-2, while the last contested match of the evening was a pin of Ali Capobianco Jr. (Albrightsville, Pennsylvania) by Justice Avery at 174 lb. class.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN…when Cardinal wrestler Aiden Pasiuk was awarded a walk over to give the Cardinals an insurmountable lead of 34-6 at the 184 lb. class.
WHAT'S NEXT …Scots travel to Indianapolis for the 39th Annual Midwest Classic next Saturday the 16th.
