The Fighting Scots traveled to the University of Indianapolis this weekend to participate in the prestigious Midwest Classic where 17 of the top of the 25 teams in the country came to compete this weekend. The Scots were only able to muster just three wrestlers that were healthy enough to compete.
At 125 junior Anthony Tripke (North Port, Florida) lost both of his matches to decisions. Giuseppe Penzone took a 6-3 decision over the Scot. Then in the consolation bracket Tripke lost a 3-2 decision to Vincent Distefanis from Seton Hill.
Samuel Phillips (Parkersburg, West Virginia) was pinned in his first match by Brian Dutton from University of Central Oklahoma at 5:37. Phillips lost a close one in his consolation match in a 5-4 to Clayton Hanson from Bellarmine University.
Freshman T.J. Lambiotte (Mineral Wells, West Virginia) also was only able to wrestle in just two matches for the weekend. He lost in a 15-9 decision to Tyler Mann from Ouachita Baptist, while getting pinned in his consolation to Weston Dobler from Minnesota Moorehead at 3:29 into the match.
The Scots will not return to the mat until the New Year as they will travel to Waynesburg on January 6th for the Waynesburg Open. The Scots next home match is not scheduled until February 3rd when they host University of Southern Virginia at the Snyder Activity Center.
