Re: Losing is not an injury
Some argue that a timeout can be called in other sports so why not wrestling. Here is the huge difference though. Those timeouts are called on a dead ball situation. In wrestling a wrestler can do it in the middle of live action putting a halt to an impending bad situation. Imagine if the quarterba...

Re: AAA Region 4 Brackets compared to AAA Region 2 Brackets
And this is exactly what is wrong with our sport. Too many hands in the cookie jar, too much red tape, too many policies that don't make sense. We have principals in charge of rule changes for sports they don't understand or care about. I am not disrespecting the principals at all, so please don't ...

Re: Ranking vs Regionals
Rankings in my opinion are mostly for the fans and wrestlers. Kinda like fairntasy football or something. Really they mean nothing, but it keeps people involved. Something to shoot for. People come out to watch matches and tournaments when they see ranked wrestlers are going to go at it. It's a gre...

Maybe it's just me but if go through everything it takes to win a trophy at a tournament like this and you get your picture taken with one and then you are handed a lousy plack , you are going to be disappointed. I know people' will probably say you should just be happy with winning, but really if ...

Man alive! Why is everyone so pissed about rankings? It's like the story that never ends. Someone made a list, big deal. Everyone ranks everyone in every facet of life. Unfortunately in life you don't always get to prove otherwise. This is wrestling and anyone can win. My son went to a tournament on...

I believe that OG wrestler was AJ Rhodes. Great wrestler and even better young man! I think Sally was referring to OG's 189 Zac Montero. Finished 5th in the regional and was awarded the 4th position because of an injury(broken leg?) and went to Huntington and finished 2nd in the state. Sorry, Aj fi...

Re: The State of West Virginia Wrestling
I did not see it on the front page anywhere but perhaps a club section could be added to help those whom might not be aware of a club or organized practice room near them. I live in the northern panhandle, I can see PA and OH out of the back window of my house. Sure that doesn't help a lot of people...

Re: The State of West Virginia Wrestling
I'm surely no economist and on the topic of adjusting regions I've got no real solution but regarding the success of wrestling I think the answer is fairly simple. I say this because it works for us and many others. The SSAC needs to relax the rules limiting coaching out of season and use of facilit...

Re: Oak Glen vs. John Marshall
In looking at the scores of OG vs. JM, I noticed that Bozek and Carmen didn't wrestle. I would have figured with the regionals and states coming up, a final match between these two would have happened. They split them up for some reason. I wanted to see the tie breaker, I think a lot of others did ...

3 at one tournament? Wow!!! Hopefully all injured wrestlers are ok and recover quickly. I've always been a freak about teaching elbows bent in referees position, if you are lifted, don't lock out on return and no kids sitting on their butts in practice with elbows locked behind them. Between wrestli...

Re: Region IV ranked wrestlers
let the OP make one more comment... The "cream" as it is being referred to now as just the best in each weight class breaks down something like this: Region 4- 10 number ones! Region 3- 2 Region 2- 1 Region 1- 1 based on recent rankings and I may have missed one or more but that's pretty ...

Wrestling answers the ultimate question

But generally speaking on rankings I've concluded...Rankings influence seeding, seeding det...

Re: All class, why not
In 1975 and before there was a single class in wrestling in WV. Because of the limited number of state championship qualifiers (for a long time, 1 per region), small schools could do well at state with 1 or 2 good wrestlers (see Sophia, Big Creek). After 1976 (1st year for 2 classes) there were mor...

pins only matter when your losing big and you get the big pin. I'd rather win 1-0 in the state finals over the guy that 100-0 with 100 pins. It's a forum man, a chat room. Noah Adams would rather punish you and work for 3 periods than pin you. I mean kudos to the kids that are pinning their opponen...
