Re: WVU 2024
Below is a listing of the final team scores. I actually think WVU did decent. We finished above Oklahoma, Michigan State, Indiana, Wyoming, and tied with Rutgers. I would have loved to have a top 25 finish but that is tough without multiple All Americans or a national champion. WVU has had 3 Nation...

Doya, Brody Conley ended his HS career by winning 119 matches, 2 OH state titles, and 1 Ironman championship. Ty Watters is a Super 32 finalist and a 2 time PA state champion. Both were well within being a Top 35 recruit in the country. If you don’t like term “high level” may you you just prefer to...

Jesse Adams - Tough Path
Every state champion has to win four matches in the state tournament.
Independence's Jesse Adams was the ONLY state champion that had all four of his state tournament opponents make the podium.

Re: NCAA Qualification Process
Was there a consistency issue with Noah Adams, Killian Cardinale, or Peyton Hall? The answer is no, because these three guys were and are very talented and could contend for All American status every year. So what about the other 8 guys? Let's start with Jordan Titus, you can see in his wrestling t...

Re: NCAA Qualification Process
All three years WVU has only qualified 3 wrestlers at the BIG 12 tournament. In 2021 and 2022 they had one guy qualify through the at large process. This year they had 3 guys qualify through the at large process. While the results at the BIG 12 tournament are not improving the number of qualifiers ...

Team points are of course an accumulation of individual points. The individuals need to win matches to score points. Wrestlers who win should be going to the NCAA tournament. WVU is sending 6 wrestlers to the NCAA tournament. This is +2 qualifiers above the previous two seasons. A sign of improvemen...

Re: Big 12 Results and NCAA Qualifiers
It was certainly not their best performance of the year to say the least. I thought Killian might wrestle the minimum number of matches to qualify before he medically forfeited but with him medically forfeiting out of the tournament, that says a lot about his health. Let's hope he can get an At-lar...

Re: OW awards
Regarding the Single A MOW, I would have thought Vandall of Greenbrier West would have been the selection and here is why: 1. He won the tournament. 2. He beat the #1 wrestler. 3. He avenged an earlier season loss in the finals. 4. He pinned in the finals and that scored enough points for his team t...

Andy Thomas was one of the most dominant wrestlers I ever watched. He's gotta be one of the best four timers. We do not have anything to do with ticket sales. The Civic Center and the WVSSAC handle it. When you get to the Civic Center, if you can't find what you need, come to the back door and my wife and I will take care of you.

Re: WVU Injuries at the Southeast Open
Operating at 60 percent? Who cares about the Southeast Open? All it is, is an opportunity for teams to compete to see where their progression is. There were a lot of starters from the other teams that didn't even wrestle, probably because of minor injuries, illness, or maybe still trying to get the...

First of all, the state pairings look great except I must question AA/A 120. WVMat has had Wood of Point Pleasant as #1 all season. WVMat has had Hess of North Marion #2 in 5 out of the 6 polls and for the past 5 weeks straight. Both were regional champions. Both are undefeated in WV AA/A. Currentl...

How did Nichols and Purdue on the same side? Purdue won Region 3 and Nichole Region 1. Why are they on the same side? I do not know the answer. However, Nichols did lose 13 to 7 to Taylor of Hoover on December 17th at the Jason Eades Memorial at Point Pleasant. This muddies the waters enough to not...

Everybody has been quiet about the Dutton Award lately. Time is running out. As I recall, the voting order last season was as follows: 1. Raike 2. Bartee 3. Wright. Raike won the award. Raike and Bartee have graduated. This leave Wright as the top carryover from last season's voting. We have Brother...

KDunbar you are correct. Regardless of which region you are in the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the same region will be on the same side of the bracket and opposite of their regional champion. Additionally, if there is not a clear cut ranked #2 I believe the intention is to leave that weight clas...

Johnson of Woodrow Wilson is without a doubt, the #1 106 in AAA. Martin of University was pinned in 1:04 by Johnson. Owens of Spring Mills went the distance with Johnson and lost 4 to 0. Martin is currently #2. Owens is currently #4. I'm not making a statement on the validity of the rankings, but I...
