Re: Josh Talbott to West Liberty
I can tell you we are extremely proud of Joshua. He has worked his butt off. Has never been the biggest, fastest, or strongest.....but his work ethic has been incredible, and he hasn't come close to peaking yet. I can't wait to see what's in store for him at the next level. Great coach, great school...

Re: AAA OW & Coach of the Year
Two schools from rural counties, with approximately the same size student body, producing state championship teams, and national caliber individuals... seems quite similar to me. Granted, SPG has been doing it for far longer. I'd attribute that sustained success to the world class coach they have u...

Re: AAA OW & Coach of the Year
Best coaching staff in the state in south, whether some of you on here want to hear that or not, or even like any of them is one thing. But the truth of the matter is that team has 6 dudes that competed at the college level, and Brent I would enjoy this season because from what I heard, those pract...

Re: AAA OW & Coach of the Year
There are a lot of great coaches out there, who work hard and do a great job. Having been a competitor all of my life, and coaching over the last several years my take on the issue is simple. South was favored to win it all, the reason they were favored is because they have a line up that is stellar...

I was in the room for the meeting. This explanation matches word for word with what you said in the room. It was a difficult situation to be in, in the end it was handled the best way possible. You have always been good to me, and you have always been kind to my son. Hind sight is always 20/20 and y...

22 not ranked in the top 6 placed. That means they were ranked in the top 10. Out of 76 placers (excluding those that were not ranked at all and placed), that means that 72% of the time those that placed were in the top 6, and 28% of the time they over achieved their designated rank. Out of a grand ...

Re: Best A/AA Team ever in WV
looks like some of the rest of us need to look at what we are doing. these 2 teams (since the 2000's) have been dominant. maybe the rest of us need to figure out their secrets since its clear they know something that we don't. it seems like its probably more than just a run of talent. Congrats to t...

A Tribute to my son, Joshua Talbott
I used a previous email I read as my guide for this, changes were made to fit my situation, but it was fitting none the less. I am sure there are a ton of dads out there that had kids that were seniors, so this may be fitting for all.... So now I sit listening to the deafening silence on a Monday mo...

I agree with most of the names. Talbott didn't miss due to the region. He suffered a concussion in the semi's and wouldn't have been cleared to compete at States. The point made still stands, too many top kids sitting at home.

Re: Spot the Principal
My advice is not to talk negatively about the principals. They are the ones who ultimately make the decisions on all decisions to include schedule, travel, coaching staff (paid and volunteer) and many other factors that influence the wrestling community. I suggest that each team encourages the admi...

I agree, every weight class will be filled with excitement......all of them. I predict that there will be some upsets, there usually is, that will shake things up. This region is loaded, at every weight class, with the cream of the crop. It all depends on which kids show up, and who is peaking at th...

Re: AAA Region 4 Brackets compared to AAA Region 2 Brackets
Preaching to the choir. I feel the same way. Now the rules do say the principal can assign a designee to take their place. I don't know how often that happens and if it does it is probably the assistant principal who is like minded. I volunteer my services as the designee for all 29 AAA schools. 1....

I wouldn't be shocked to see Region 4 win 113 with Sinclair or Irizarry and 160 with Dunbar. Not saying they are favored to do so, but those kids are tough as nails, and it wouldn't shock me.

Re: Wrestling vs. Football - Post Season Play
The point is much simpler. If football can have its own set if standards in the state and not have to abide by the region setup, shouldn't wrestling also be able to adjust its postseason for the good of the sport and community? Its a fair statement and question. Wrestling could be serviced better t...

Relax Bear. I actually see things your way to a point. Not 100% but maybe 75%. I don't agree with the WVSSAC leveling the playing field. It has been one of my biggest gripes about the organization for a long time. I don't like seeing some of the tougher opponents stay home. Likewise I can't see all...
