Re: OVAC Rankings

Hubbard signed an NLI to wrestle at Ohio State.... If Tom Ryan thinks he is good enough to wrestle there, why would he try to duck Humphries? I don't believe he will. What are you basing that on?

Re: Super 32 Lone Wolves

Not specifically related, but closely related, do you think that there would be more WV wrestlers competing at Nationals, Fargo, Journeymen, and Super 32 if the wrestlers that did not play football, or any other sport for that matter had a convenient location to practice during the time period of t...

Re: AAA FOOTBALL ROSTERS

I saw South vs. university this weekend, (University asst. football coach) and I will tell you South could use a couple of their upper weights on the line, just like University could use some their line on the mats. Current UHS wrestlers on the team include Jace Stockett, Owen Zeiders, Max Robertson...

I have heard that at least Wyatt Henson will wrestle in PA this year & not WV. Come August I guess we shall see where the enrollment comes about.

Malematmaid, I would love to see you tell Sammy Henson that his silver medal doesn't matter in the 2000 Olympics because it wasn't gold. Although it's fun catch phrase, it really holds little value.

Re: Officials at States 2

Mr. Marling I agree with you, but I saw a wrestler have to explain to a ref he was using a rollback tilt and how that worked after it was called potentially dangerous. I get that there is a trapped arm, but in that move the control wrestler lands first. In the refs defense, he did allow the rollback...

Re: AAA OW & Coach of the Year

Amusing that you mention university in this scenario  except not at all. So, last season whenever South had all underclassmen, zero seniors, five freshmen starters that all did well, two in which finished runner-up in their respective weight classes and still ran away with the team title. But...

Re: AAA OW & Coach of the Year

There is an interesting caveat here in regards to South. They Clearly were the favorites to win the state tournament and they have an amazing lineup. Simply put, they achieved, or are achieving, what has been expected for them to achieve. The question is, do you give the COY to the team who met exp...

Me, my therapy dog, and corresponding safe place are interested in second place. So are my son and his teammates. I am certain Parkersburg's kids are as well. That's what should matter and they, the kids, will remember. So I look forward to that story. I hope the Parkersburg V. University battle is ...

Re: SUPPORT WV STATE TOURNEY PART 2

If it were on a Saturday and Sunday, attendance would have been bigger and it could have been more sensationalized for them. I know for a fact that the offer was there to include the brackets at the WVYWA State Championship which would have afforded them a larger audience and allowed them to wrestl...

Re: AAA Region 1 Pre 2017 VS. Region 4 of Now!!!!!

I would add that Ripley was typically a or the top performer in Region 3....it isn't just Parkersburg and Park South that made Region 4 more of a gauntlet, but all three of them together. Remove any one of those three and I think it is tough, but not multiple state level performers don't qualify tou...

Re: Wrestling vs. Football - Post Season Play

I Don't think issue is really about comparison, its really about doing what is best for the sport. Maybe softball should have 8 teams, but should get to pursue what is best for the interest of their individuals sport. All the sports should be able to achieve their own best scenario and not be govern...

Re: Wrestling vs. Football - Post Season Play

The point is much simpler. If football can have its own set if standards in the state and not have to abide by the region setup, shouldn't wrestling also be able to adjust its postseason for the good of the sport and community? Its a fair statement and question. Wrestling could be serviced better to...

Re: OVAC

I agree with you Gator, but much harder to do with the State Tournament as those byes will be slid into the pill. So the top guy from a region is the one likely to have the bye. Clearly, this is more likely to effect teams like Park South and Independence or teams with lots of regions champs.

For those of you coming to Winners Choice, I was informed by friends in that town the main route to the armory off exit 132 is closed because of a rock slide/ unsteady hillside. Any one from Fairmont care to provide alternative paths?
