Re: Braxton County

Some of these finals are tough to predict but I am going to take a stab at 195 and 285.

195: Adams vs Jennings

285: Heath vs Duval

No, it is our Logan Ball. He has borrowed the mask from the mystery 195 pounder to keep his eligibility a secret.

Re: SOUTH / PHS PREDICTIONS

Lambiotte must be tougher than Hades because the Johnson I saw Saturday was a destroyer. These two will wrestle how many more times this season? Three???

Re: Teams for the 2016 WSAZ

I have a solution to the state tournament seeding / pill argument. I just haven't had time to type it all up and post. It is coming. It solves all of the arguments and is doable.

The state tournament as it is now is king. A dual team championship is nothing but a welcomed addition.

The masked man could be the number one seed. The real question is who will meet him in the finals.

Re: Teams for the 2016 WSAZ

Barring injuries, etc, every Dutton Award candidate for the next 3 years will be at this tournament. We should see Humphreys/St Albans vs Moore/Roane. Adams/Indy vs. Allman/South. Of course this is based on these wrestlers not getting beat out before the finals. Who knows how many state final previe...

Re: Forfeits

Forfeits happen because not enough kids go out for wrestling. That is the root cause of the problem. If you do not have a 126 pounder, doing away with the 126 pound weight class is not the solution.

Re: Forfeits

These football coaches actually think they are going to gain any kind of advantage over another WV football team by lifting weights? Everybody is lifting weights. Wrestlers need to lift weights. Basketball players need to lift weights. The more different sports one plays, thus staying in a competiti...

Re: West Virginia Army National Guard Duals Wrestling Tournament Pools

Everybody should be glad Independence has been wrestling so much out of state. This has prevented many losses on many wrestlers' records.

Re: Forfeits

Wrestlers should lift weights! Weight training prevents injuries. Weight training improves endurance. Being strong and in shape helps everybody in life. Life is tougher than wrestling. There are no advantages to being weak (other than getting out of helping people with heavy work). Kids should stay ...

Re: Forfeits

With all due respect, cutting out weight classes does not solve anything. Using that logic, taking basketball down to 4 players on the floor is a good idea. Changing the starter's in football from 11 to 8 would help the smaller schools too. Fewer weight classes could contribute to more weight cuttin...

South Charleston's Fred Crozier

Ok, last season, we had Fred Crozier/South Charleston qualify at 170lbs for the state tournament. He was listed as a senior.

Now, we have Fred Crozier/South Charleston ranked at 152lbs.

It is going to be an interesting season.

Where did Hicks come from? CM has been forfeiting 285 all season long. I knew as big as CM is, they had to have plenty of boys (and girls) walking around at 285.

In every match there is gambling.

To be more clear on my previous post, I see EF scoring much more points in tournaments than NM.

Time will tell.

Re: WSAZ Tournament

The CM kid at the Pat Vance was listed as JV on the bracket. I also see him as being ranked in another weight class.

In the past five years, there have been at least two wrestlers come off the bench and place 2nd and 4th at the state tournament when the starters left the teams.

The irony in all of this is that the AAA (bigger schools' division) will become easier for state tournament qualification.

The single A schools now have more bigger schools to compete with (Point, Nitro, Winfield, etc)

Based on what I have read, the mystery wrestler is making his debut at 195lbs. I hear "Parts Unknown" has a good peewee program and they also have a Big Red running their middle school. This kid might step in and whip Adams and Allman both on the same day.

I hope all schools with worth while JV wrestlers bring them to the Z's.

We already have a JV guy at Cabell Midland that has beaten a qualifier and a 4th place winner at last season's state tournament.

Re: Rankings are trash

The rankings will sort themselves out even more accurately soon. Robertson is off to a great start. He has caught my eye in the WVMAT results. Ripley's Haynes is a bad match for anybody. He beat Mills of HHS last season. He lost to Newhart-Koreski by 1 point at the state tournament. Of course Mills ...
