Re: Division 1 Wrestlers
I just went through this process with my son. We had a D1 official visit and he was recruited by several schools from D1 to NWCA club wrestling. Knowing he's not likely to turn wrestling into a profession or make the Olympics, maybe the best choice is the best financial package and best fit. He cou...

Re: Controversial Matches
1. Last time I checked this is a open forum. I know of one that got deleted because I asked it to be. 2. I have had hundreds and I do mean hundreds of people come to me and thank me for my post. 3. I let my officiating speak for itself. For anyone to think I am basis surely hasn't seen me officiate...

Re: Controversial Matches
Coach let it go. Who do you think the fans of WV will listen to. A Hall of Famer who has devoted his entire life to the youth of the state or a person who spent a total time of 1.44 on the mats at a state tournament. Both kids are class acts and so are you. For the readers, 1. Coach Stump seems to ...

Re: Controversial Matches
Apparently you were not in attendance during the match with Stewart and Adams. The trainers from all directions worked with the dislocated finger and all were unsuccessful in getting the dislocation to fall back into place. Yes, Stewart was winning the match, yes, Noah Adams is an outstanding wrest...

Re: Division 1 Wrestlers
Based on the feedback received thus far (3 / 165 views), the general message is lack of effort from the wrestlers, lack of effort from their parents and/or lack of effort from the coaches. Lack of understanding what to do seems to be a challenge also. What else? Thanks to the three that responded.

Re: Ken Chertow—WVU ????
After one season with Division II Queens University of Charlotte, longtime Centre County resident Ken Chertow is moving on for another wrestling coaching opportunity. Queens’ athletic director made the announcement earlier this week, although the future opportunity is not yet known. Chertow — an Ol...

Re: Controversial Matches
The "illegal" slam that cost Noah Adams a 4th state championship was terrible. Mr. Adams is phenomenal wrestler and I will take nothing away from the kid, but with that said Noah was losing in the finals his freshman year to Hayden Stewart and won that match because Hayden was not permitt...

NHSCA Notes & Points
At a quick glance, WV's wrestlers are off to a very good start. Many wins in their opening matches. One interesting "coincidence" that is trending.............the wrestlers who went up in weight (wrestling heavier than their in season weight class) are having a rough time. Good luck to all...

Short version, Hart won, but all involved won't admit to their mistake.
Acknowledging the mistake would get everybody on the road to restoring faith and credibility.

A couple of points to add: 1. Former WV wrestlers and Independence Alumni Nate Warden and Bowdy Boyce are registered and coming from Virginia and Tennessee. 2. As most know, this tournament is "weigh in Thursday and then no more weigh ins". Action begins Friday. The vast majority of the WV...

Re: California State Championships
I’d be pretty disappointed if we couldn’t handle adding 2.5 rounds of wrestling to our tournament. I’m pretty disappointed it was suggested that WV couldn’t handle a 32 man bracket...HOPEFULLY you meant we’d struggle handling the large number of participants that CA has; which I agree would be a sh...

Aaacoach32 I am coaching my team in the CA states as I type this! But do you have the resources to run a State event such as this one? I have not been to a WV state tourney in years, so I don’t know What’s changed. One more note: It is really unfair to compare state to state tourney’s because here ...

The problem with this situation is that it was not a judgment call, it was a blatant mistake that a entire group of people, including the Winfield coaches, could...

Re: Alex Hart
For the record, the takedown that was scored to make the match 5-1 came with about ten seconds left in the second period as the tapper is coming on to the mat. As a coach, you would normally look at the scoreboard to see how much time you had to get off bottom and you would be coaching your guy har...

Obviously everything was done within guidelines. I have no problem with what school any wrestler goes to.
Heck, I know a wrestler or two that needs to get as far away from their current school as possible.
