Re: Seed Meeting

Good words Mr Whorton. I only wish it was time to weigh-in and hit the mats. Anticipation is a killer for me. Good luck to all next weekend, and more important I wish for a injury free and safe travels for all event.

Re: Winning vs long term

Good post Matt. We have done very little weight cutting. Usually 1 tourney a year, the outcome is usually an exhausted weak wrestler in our case. We think of Pickle everyday and hope he is well. He has been missed in the mat room. You can not ask for a better partner than that dude. And there is no ...

WVYWA weigh-ins

If I am reading the rules correctly, and I don't always comprehend well, wrestlers are required to make weight each day of tournament. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Re: Issue today at WVYWA Region 1

I only see one rule broke here. If wrestler B made base weight at qualifier then there was no unforseen circumstance that should have allowed a special weigh in from region chair for a lower base weight. I see no rule allowing you to wrestle in another region then your residence because that is were...

There's more to that. Starting with section IV.A.n
States you can set up meeting with region chair to make base weight.

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds

In the event that a wrestler is injured and unable to participate in a WVYWA Qualifying Tournament, in order for the wrestler to participate in the Region Tournament, the wrestler must petition the Region Chairman for a weigh-in to establish his base weight at least one week prior to the Region Tour...

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds

If they have not made a base weight they should not be allowed to move down. There were tourneys that changed to base weight qualifiers after this transpired. Don't know the truth of it, but I was told there is 12yr old wrestlers that are moving down that have not made base weight.

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds

I think that some of you assume things that are just not true. A comment made about an easy title was made after one of my posts. My son is an 11 year old 5th grader and I said the 12 year Olds should have a choice. So with that being said I am inviting the 7th grader in so there is some tougher co...

I believe the rule says 5 days to submit to YWA. Then the YWA is responsible to post in 7 days. But with so many results not posted, what's the hype with this one?

This is the first year I have noticed them allowing you to take pics if you bought a package. I agree it is wrong, but same discussion every year. Tourney gives photographers the rights, what can you do?

Re: Jr. States 11-12, 13-15 Trophies????

Personally, I am not a fan of huge trophies or trophies in general. However, I do see that keeping kids interested. But, when you get to high school there are very few trophies earned. Typically they are medals. I think we place too much emphasis on the trophy and not enough on the accomplishment. ...

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds

I have on dog in the fight, but I'm feeling all of you. I see a little controversy in the rules. 2 lines under the 7th grader rule is states a wrestler must enter the age group were there age falls. Seems like someone is riding the fence. I think this is an easy fix, but we gotta have consistency. E...

Lehigh University wrestler John Trenge wore goggles most of his college career due to an eye injury.
