Re: JV ALERT - JANUARY 28TH

Unfortunately, he got hurt and placed 6th. Don't ask how he got hurt. I make it a practice to never divulge anyone's injuries.

Re: Parkerburg vs. Parkersburg South predictions

He had already lost the match by pin, but was then disqualified, resulting in the same 6 points for South. Then, when it was ruled flagrant misconduct, 3 team points were taken at the end of the match. As to some of the other subjects in this thread, one of my favorite lines from last year was when ...

Re: OVAC TOMORROW!!

You're right, P.H.D., there's nothing like the OVAC! A comment was made a while back that South should skip the OVAC (our CONFERENCE tournament) and go to the WSAZ because the wrestling is better. There will be some fantastic match ups at the WSAZ, no doubt, but until someone actually witnesses some...

Re: Mike Ellis Tournament

My first thought was that Malloree was talking about George, but I figured it couldn't have been him since he retired. What is it about us "retirees" that we can't just stay away from this sport we love so much!! :)

Re: Mike Ellis Tournament

Lee, I just wanted to tell you that my niece Malloree (one of the two South managers keeping score this weekend) had very nice things to say about the Hurricane matmaids! She said they were very friendly and helpful. Please let them know that. I started to tell her ahead of time to ask somebody to p...

I think the 160-lb championship match between GW's Hunter Jones and Huntington's Trevor Johnson could be the best AAA match of the night.

Hi Repoman. Go to this location: http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/associations/wvssac Near the top of the page click the red box that reads, "Follow >" You'll be taken to a page where you can create a free user ID and password. It's painless. I created one during last year's OVAC tournament. Hop...

Very nice post to your son, and I wish him the best of luck! Not to take away anything from the wrestlers in the upper bracket, but I wish Chris was in a separate bracket from Adam Whitmore. I may not have seen your boy wrestle in person this year, but I've followed the results. What an impressive s...

Re: AAA 2016 State Championship Predictions

Brent's post about Justin Allman having more pins this year got me curious, so I decided to look it up. (What can I say, I'm helping out a little behind the scenes for South's year-end stats stuff. Gotta have something to do on my lunch hour!) Allman has 25 pins this year, compared to 14 his sophomo...

Re: " big red maneuvers" at 113 and 126...

Nobody should have to apologize for having an opinion. We (South) did do this very same thing, though in 2009. David McCoy, our 215-pounder missed a good part of the season with an injury, and didn't re-join the team until February, even though he was still having some issues. He reached the regiona...

Great job by the tournament staff, and excellent performance by the Independence wrestlers! What a dominating finish. Best of luck next weekend. Mr. Hart, please let me know if you weren't able to pick up a South program at the WV Duals. If not, I will bring you one next week!

I don't blame them at all. South has done the same thing many a time, as have many teams. Get them qualified, and try to give them a few more days to heal. It's smart if you ask me.

Oh my Goodness, thank you, Gator! Ron and I are on our way back from Columbus visiting our grandson (you know how wrestling takes a backseat to those little ones!). I've been going crazy wondering what was going on. My friend Lynn started texting me some results, but they were South results only.

I will take all the blame for that one, and I think the fine folks at Point Pleasant would know I would never do that on purpose (especially since Grant's stepmom has been a friend of mine for about 15 years!). I asked Paula to send me a picture of the scorebook, and told her I'd submit the results....

Re: AAA 2016 / 2017 Regions vs. Top 10 Teams

Twenty-some years ago, this was the case in Region 1 quite often. Take the 1994 state tournament, for example. Here are the Region 1 teams and how they finished at the state tournament. Parkersburg 1 Parkersburg South 2 Wheeling Park 4 John Marshall 7 Brooke 8 Weir 12 Oak Glen 20 And I can't remembe...

In 1993, the AA/A state tournament was a nail-biter featuring two mighty teams from a couple of the state's smallest "A" schools - Cameron and Wirt County.
