Re: 2019 Appalachian Fasteners Invitational 1/26/19
We had a great time down there coach. Everything ran fast and smooth, the people running tables were nice and knew what they were doing, the ladies in the hospitality room were super nice and the food was great...just a great experience all the way around. Kudos to you and your people for a well run...

On day 1 all three teams were in separate pools. On day 2 South Harrison and Roane saw each other. Again, I do not know results.

Re: 160lb A/AA at Mountaineer Matchup
We almost had the same thing at Big 16 last week in 170. If Moorefield had not gone to VA and Dorsey had not been hurt we would have had 7 of the top 10 ranked in the building.

Re: AAA Bear Tracks - January 3, 2019
I did not mean to throw disrespect towards all of those who contribute to the polls or those like Bearhugger who compile individual rankings. It takes effort and work. My issue came from from the post about how coaches should teach the values of such polls and how important they are, which they ult...

Re: AAA Bear Tracks - January 3, 2019
Why in the world would i put so much faith and stock in a ranking that means absolutely nothing? I wouldn't go so far as to say it means absolutely nothing. The wrestlers sure do seem to appreciate the recognition and since WVMat is the #1 source for WV wrestling info I would say the rankings carry...

In the coaches poll at 152, #3 Mason has lost not once but twice to Kiszka #4, so they should be switches, but he also lost to dimmarian thomas from East Fairmont at the superior tournament. This is just one case, if i dug i guarantee there is others too Yes there are others. This is the first poll...

Re: National Guard Duals
I was curious about this myself and skimmed through schedules on WVSSAC looking for teams that were attending. This is in no way a complete list of attending teams. Teams with Nat Guard Duals on their schedule are: Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Fayetteville, Greenbrier West, Indy, Liberty H, Nicholas, Nor...

Re: Musselman Duals or National Guard Duals?
My "best WV teams" comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Some people just wear their singlet to tight and get worked up over everything. If anyone took the time to read my posts they would know I never talk down any team. If you knew me personally then you would know I actually speak qu...

Re: Musselman Duals or National Guard Duals?
My .02 pennies is the Nat Guard Duals is the place to be. There is usually at least 25 teams there and in spite of the "best WV teams" deciding to wrestle out of state or elsewhere, the competition is always very high. Wow Coach Williams Happy New Year! Coach since you went out of your wa...

Re: New rule regarding out bounds?
I will again point out that the size of the mat is the biggest driving factor here. Kind of hard to allow wrestling at the edge when a wrestler can have one shoulder in bounds and the other on the gym floor because the mats are so small. I have seen plenty of matches in WV in which refs have follow...

Re: New rule regarding out bounds?
Thats not what the rule book states for 2018-19....Rule 5-15-1. There is no mention of any stipulations for awarding points. I have been to several WV matches and have seen no change in the out of bounds interpretation. However, I did see the new rule applied in PA at Powerade. New inbounds rule fo...

I have not seen much evidence that the new out of bounds rule is being applied. In fact, I have seen out of bounds called a few times that was not considered out of bounds last year.

Re: State of AAA 106 Address
My thought is that 106 is becoming an almost obsolete weight class anyway. Just look at submitted scores and see how many teams have a 106. Just from recent scores I see that Shady Springs, Indy, Lincoln County, Logan, Mingo Central, Nitro, St. Marys, Liberty Raleigh, Oak Hill, Winfield, Clay, Webst...

Re: Record Question
After being in my share of seeding meetings I know that this is neither the way anyone does it nor will anyone agree with me, but my 2 pennies is if a wrestler wrestles all season at a weight class and has a 45-3 record, then switches to a different weight class for regionals, he should be seeded wi...

Re: Female wrestler BMI
Using "plain ole math" it is obvious that a male of the same weight would have a muscular advantage over the female. Assuming both wrestlers weigh the same 126 lbs. The male can have a "non-fat" make up 93% or 117.18 lbs of his weight The female can have a "non-fat" mak...

Re: # of weigh ins
It is for wrestlers, not the team. On the same weekend a team can send it's varsity to one tournament and it's JV to a different tournament and have 2 weigh-ins per weekend, but the individual wrestlers on the team will not exceed the season weigh-in limit.

Bridgeport hosted it two years ago and Braxton hosted it last year. I am not sure how the rotation works, but I think the other teams in the region would have to turn it down before it will cycle back to either of those teams.

I am unaware of the Federal government sanctioning any sporting event. Sounds like someone fed you a line of bull. Video can be used in high school sporting events, WVSSAC just doesn't allow it. Two years ago Alabama started experimenting with coach's challenges and video replay in some of their exh...
