Re: LCQ Example - Sam Adams of Independence
This wrestler deserves to be in the State tournament. BUT, let's not forget, 2 of the 4 wrestlers mentioned in the original thread transferred in from another program, along with others from schools like Midland Trail and Greenbrier East. With this many wrestlers joining the program, at some point ...

Just make it an open tournament, no team score, no seeding and everyone wrestles. Kind of like tee ball, no score and everyone gets to play. Participation trophies for everyone.

Re: LCQ Example - Sam Adams of Independence
Not sure I fully understand all this JV talk. True they couldn't score points, but they could knock out other teams scoring wrestlers. So an already stacked team like Indy or South should be allowed to enter even more wrestlers?

Re: Undefeated Before States
I'll throw out Amos, because it's a no brainer, and he has the easiest route, but out of the remaining wrestlers listed I would go with Frazier. I think he's the best Heavyweight in the state. I feel like Wharton will have the toughest time winning it all.

Point Pleasant 13 5*
East Fairmont 12 5*
Braxton County 12 3*
Greenbrier West 10 1*
Additional trivia. Independence lost only two matches during region 3. Both matches were 1 point losses.
That's amazing.

Any upsets in regionals?
I just read where Trey Gunnoe of Independence beat Oak Hill's Christian Lively, and was wondering if there were any other upsets, or surprises around the state this past weekend.

Too many fans/coaches/wrestlers milling around on the arena floor next to the mats blocking the view of the fans in the stands. No floor security personnel and efforts to control this via PA announcements were futile and eventually abandoned resulting in fans/coaches/wrestlers milling around inches...

South wasn't even at WSAZ which is the topic of this thread, but it would absolutely kill their fans on here to say something good about another schools wrestlers. Every topic is basically how great they are, and how bad everyone else is.

Only way I could see it working would be to totally eliminate the team aspect of it and make open to everyone provided they made weight. No team score, enter as many wrestlers as you like.

Didn't fair as well in the other two matches. Gavin is a very tough young man. He pushes the pace and forces you to wrestle him. He may not have won vs Peyton or Caleb but he never took a step backward and was full throttle till the end. He won’t be losing many more if he continues on the path he i...

Figure 20 is the one that I think is missed a lot-The double underhook does not stop the takedown. Don't know why it's so difficult to get this one right.

WV should become an innovator in wrestling and establish a "95 and below" weight class (or whatever poundage....93....90, etc) It could be unofficial, no team points and blended in at the state tournament. Mix all classes AAA, AA and A. Treat it as an exhibition. What does it accomplish? ...

No, I don’t care that you are for or against South, it’s just an argument about something that could never have taken place because a young man was injured. A moot point. It was also a moot point when a few post ago someone said he would have won any class, but you were good with that, just saying....
