Re: Weight Class Discussion
Kids are much more likely to experience significant growth spurts during middle school. It isn't out of the question for a kid to go from 95lbs to 115lbs in a years time. Puberty is kicking in causing them to add bone and muscle mass very quickly. I think the weight classes address that by not requi...

Re: Braxton tourney
It was an okay tournament. Day one we used three mats. Then day two we only used two mats. If they use three mats we are outta there early but got to make that concession money LOL. Another small issue day two they had about 3-4 breaks which didn’t need to happen: but overall it was a well ran tour...

Re: FORFEIT’S
A forfeit should count. A wrestler who made weight, prepared all week, showed up for the tournament and steps on the mat ready to wrestle should not be denied credit for that because the other team did not produce a wrestler to compete with him.

Fairmont Senior had Frazier out due to his official football visit to WVU... also had another varsity member out. They more than likely would have come in first place with those two in the lineup. The Polar Bears look to be very good this season. It is easy to argue "what ifs". For exampl...

3rd would have been in a pool with either the 1st or 2nd placer, but not both since the championship match was between the two best record wrestlers in the two pools. So the 3rd placer would only have a loss to one of the top two.

A short list that I am aware of, but not all of them for sure. I am aware of several others that have said they are going, but are not registered yet. Registration doesn't close until 3/26. John Martin Best/Parkersburg Tyler Boyd/Parkersburg Brayden Johnson/Parkersburg South Gavin Quiocho/Parkersbur...

The WVSSAC added the week for a very different reason than the NCAA does.

a high school gym is never going to compete with those facilities. You have to look at how much it cost to have those facilities for a weekend compared to a a high school. You have to try to get your foot in the door before asking the ssac to book a big facility. Which leads me to why I said the Pa...

Re: Call the Call
In the scenario you laid out, Wrestler A should be warned for stalling. From what I have seen, if Wrestler A stays on the hips long enough in that position he usually draws the stall warning. If he puts boots in and rolls the wrists and stays on the hips then it is a clear stalling attempt and shoul...

Re: The Pill !
I understand everyone's displeasure with the pill, and in many cases it is justified to be unhappy. The other side of the coin here is that we don't run into coaches showing favoritism or trying to manipulate the brackets. Like it or not, there are coaches who will gladly argue that their wrestler s...

Yes. Wrestlers care about the pill. If you think they do not then I am guessing you don't know many wrestlers.

Teams put on a tournament and advertise it, look for teams and try to have the best roster that they can. If teams decide to take the weekend off or go somewhere else then that is out of the control of the host team. Trash talking them for your own personal self-gratification is juvenile and there i...

Looking at it from a purely statistical standpoint, the three of them were very closely matched in win/loss percentage. Humphreys won 96% of his matches, Laya won 96.4% of his matches and Whorton won 93.6% of his. Whorton won considerably more matches than Humphreys (191 vs 168), but he also lost ne...

170 at WSAZ Devaney beat Kotsko and Patterson beat Devaney. Devaney beat Daugherty last year at state, but they haven’t met this year so far. And Kotsko beat Patterson. I have seen some confusion on here as to why a forfeit counts as 6 points or asking if it would be logical to reduce the amount of points a forfeit counts for. There is a very good reason why forfeits count as 6 points, it is to keep coaches honest. Imagine the scheming that could be done if a forfe...
