Re: AAA 106 Review
I'm not making a statement on the validity of the rankings, but I'm guessing you have seen enough wrestling to know that the criteria you are citing is not very accurate on the whole in trying to make the decision you're proposing to make. I've seen wrestlers wrestle an entire match soley trying no...

Re: AAA 106 Review
This post is biased. Bearhugger recently bashed Martin’s mom for questioning why he was using binoculars at WSAZ, when the EFHS kids pointed it out. I’d take everything he says with a grain of salt. He has a habit of threatening jobs, scholarships etc. if you don’t like what he posts. Please take h...

Re: 138 AAA - A Case Study in Needed Improvement
Do you have any thoughts on "solving" the dilemma, besides buying more "soap"? I'm actually being serious in looking at this and I can initially only think of 3 options. The first is pray that one region only has 3 wrestlers in that weight class and it works out that the fifth p...

Re: AAA 106 Review
Johnson of Woodrow Wilson is without a doubt, the #1 106 in AAA. Martin of University was pinned in 1:04 by Johnson. Owens of Spring Mills went the distance with Johnson and lost 4 to 0. Martin is currently #2. Owens is currently #4. I'm not making a statement on the validity of the rankings, but I...

Re: New Classification
WV HS wrestling needs 4 divisions. You will still have your two brackets like now. The only difference will be it will balance things out much better. right now some AAA region brackets have 5 wrestlers. A/AA regions have up to 18 teams in them. You can look at the numbers and easily figure out how...

Re: Regional seeding
Another good talking point is the MSAC conference . It could be a great tournament to facilitate seeding for AAA regions 3 and 4. The word on the street is some schools only attend to avoid getting fined. Furthermore, too many schools do not take it serious. It is becoming a JV tournament. I have n...

Re: Separating #1 and #2
It should be a simple process, just seed the 4 regional winners and if true #1 and #2 are in same region, they will automatically be separated. Just my opinion! The rankings are statewide and kids can shift around the rankings based on who they defeat at certain points in the season and what the op...

Re: AA/A ranked wrestlers per region
What is a "southern" or "northern" region? OK, Region 1 is definitely northern and Region 3 is definitely southern, but 2 is in the middle of the state and 4 is mostly middle or southern. Also, a lot of this "better region" talk is influenced by athletic directors and ...

I would also like to congratulate the entire South team for the effort they have continued to put forth all year. And, although I'm not counting out the teams of Wheeling Park and Spring Mills, I also want to congratulate University who has a strong team from top to bottom. It should be a very fun a...

Re: AA/A ranked wrestlers per region
They've never been balanced, if Point Pleasant or Independence were in Region 1 the last 10 years, I'd love to know how many wrestlers they would've brought to Huntington year in and year out. And yes I'm saying the southern regions are weaker than hell This topic has been discussed in years past. ...

Re: Regional seeding
#1 and #2 should be enough. Who is at fault if you don't see your regional opponents during the two and a half month season? I can understand injury and weight class change but coaches should make a valid attempt to oppose each other during the season, either at a local tournament, dual, quad, etc....

Re: WVU vs UNI
Not saying anything that isn't obvious, but I don't think the 1-5 record is the issue. If you've only been beaten by #3, #8, #11, #14 and you've beat #18 (and their team was at full strength) then you might be the 17th best team in the country, despite any record. The loss to Oklahoma was unfortunat...

From the Tribune-Democrat. This would be a nice WVU recruit in a few years. EDINBORO – Competing against collegiate wrestlers, Bishop McCort Catholic freshman Jax Forrest captured the title at 125 pounds during Sunday’s Edinboro Open at PennWest Edinboro. Forrest mowed down unaffiliated Gannon wres...

Re: AAA Compiles Team Rankings
The state championship will not be determined by the number of individual champions but by the depth of place winners. And possibly by which team is healthy at the time. Many of the top teams still have some good wrestlers out with injuries. I imagine they all will be back for regionals; but will t...

Wow I didn’t even look at the match sheets, we are blessed in the MOV when it comes to wrestling. State Duals individual match results
I hate to be the one to complain, but if the WV State Duals are an important enough of an event to hold and the results and efforts of the kids are important I would think it would be important to those in charge and the coaches of the kids to make sure the results are available for them to get cred...

To describe Hagedorn as “ unseeded “ may b technically correct since he changed weight classes but he essentially WAS a seeded wrestler. That’s a fair point!
