Big ten conference tournament
Postponed until tomorrow. It can be done in one day anyway. Only three rounds were going to be wrestled this evening to begin with.

Re: HS wrestling in WV 2019
As far as attendance, every tournament and even our duals/quads have been well attended. Regarding the loss of wrestlers, even talented ones, I think it comes down to kids not wanting to put in the work and sacrifice that’s required for the sport. It’s much easier to sit in your bedroom and play vid...

Re: Winner's Choice & Braxton Big 16
So you want to combine tournaments and have a the state tournament in the middle of January? I don't like it. Let Braxton County and St. Marys have their smaller area tournaments. Mat time is important in developing young wrestlers and they are not going to get it going 0-2 at a large tournament. I...

Re: Point Pleasant JV at the WSAZ
i'd say PP's jv football team would have had a shot at the AA football playoffs as well. I'm not sure that I'm following your point here I’m not sure I get it either. If you can’t beat the best person in your weight class on your team, then jv it is. Our school is in the toughest AA region in the s...

Re: Winner's Choice & Braxton Big 16
Once again Bearhugger, just because you don’t have the details, it doesn’t make something “confusing” as you put it. Moorefield asked to join the Winner’s Choice tournament, they were told via email, in the spring, that there were no open spots, but that if one became available, they would be notif...

Moderators... could you please clean this site up. It’s turning into a cross between middle schoolers dissing each other and old lady’s bickering. So much for wrestling discussion.

They too busy yelling at people for irrelevant things like sitting on a mat that’s not being used lol. If they spent more time on posting scores instead of people watching wrestling then they may be posted LOL. They weren’t yelling at people for “sitting” on the the mat not being used. They told th...

Re: Winner's Choice Teams that are registered to attend
I don't see what the problem is here. Bearhugger did not say that the people who run Winner's Choice (and other tournaments) don't know what they are doing. He did not say he wants to run it. He made suggestions concerning possibly improving that tournament (and others) to allow for potentially inc...

There were pigtails at Cameron. I was there, so I should know. Our 152 wrestled in one... just more misinformation from someone trying to stir the pot. Learn before you post. Better yet, run a tournament and gain some experience before you post.

Re: AA/A Bear Tracks - Week Ending Dec 16
Has Vanmeter of Moorfield moved up to 182? Saw where he has been wrestling at 182 last several matches. Looks like he weighed in and wrestled 170 that day. Probably just bumped up for a few matches to get a win instead of a forfeit, when the opposition didn't have a 170. That's what I thought, then...

I've noticed this as well this season compared to last. Many questionable out of bounds calls so far this season regarding the rule.

Re: AAA teams droping to AA
Until they change the rules about overall school enrollment, there's no way to change it. If overall enrollment was ignored as a factor, you'd have to find an alternate method of evaluating who should and who shouldn't be in AAA.

Frazier has the heart of champion! And a great kid too! Pretty dominant the whole match So break this match down for everyone and tell us how one wrestler dominated the other in a 2-1 OT match? Without showing your hatred for South! Frazier controlled the action and attempted more throws and takedo...

Re: Are we doing the best we can for our sport in WV?
As far as attendance by the local community is concerned, unfortunately many student bodies don’t attend wrestling matches with any regularity as they do the other major sports. Same goes for the public and wrestling. We normally get those who were already interested in the sport or family members o...

He successfully executed several takedown and pinning combinations and was awarded a pin in one of the...

Fairmont Senior is going to start their three year run as a team this season, though East should edge them out this season. FSHS has some great returning kids like Frazier, Harrison, Heston, Tarley and Leonard. They are expecting great things from sophomore Scott this year... put on a lot of muscle ...

We have around 2-3 kids per class in the 13-15 age group. 16-18 is a little thin right now. But no Point kids have signed up yet (they will sign up Thursday.) Usually we get a lot of walk ins the day of the tournament. I know Huntington and Wirt County are bringing some down as well and haven’t bee...
