Re: AA/A Individual Rankings 2017 Week 1
Lusher wrestled 120 at Super32. Not sure if he will stay there or drop down. There may be a sleeper freshman at 160 in the mix too. Should be an interesting year.

Wonder if I could get his bride-to-be to explain to my wife how it works LOL. My wife is good except our anniversary falls on Dec 12th which is almost always a wrestling weekend. This year I am good since it is a Monday

Re: AA/A 126lb Meat Grinder
I agree. I noticed a few classes that could be real interesting depending on who moves into or out of them. If nobody moves out of AA/A 170 then there will be 5 seniors and a junior all returning that placed 1-6 and that isn't even taking into consideration who may move into the class from 45 or 52...

Re: Coaching Position
@RickyAPT Cabell county doesn't show any coaching positions on their website so you will probably have to call the central office about them. Most coaching positions are posted in June and July and either filled then or left unfilled if they are assistant positions unless the HC insist that they rep...

Good question. I found the MS and youth results, but don't see the WVYWA listed on either one of them.

Re: Roane County wrestlers
Congratulations to them! I always stress to my son and wrestlers that I coach that academics comes first and then wrestling. Long after our bodies have declined and wrestling has become a thing of our past we will still have our minds and intelligence to help us succeed at life. Glad to see these yo...

Re: WVU signee
Dylan and Jake were on their way back on their own, from what I understand. I looked at the state champ seniors this year, and would say most could wrestle D1 level , may not go to NCAA but neither did most of WVU team. As far as the grades, cmon man !! Would think "the bull" might of gon...

Re: WVU signee
I understand where you are coming from and agree that it makes no sense that WVU didn't recruit a single WV wrestler. By the same measure, did any high school coaches make a call and promote their wrestler to him? A HC calling and saying "You gotta check out this kid on my team!" and sendi...

Re: WVSSAC
Just a thought, but perhaps we would have more kids getting athletic scholarships if they could have access to more coaching in the offseason if they desired it. There is a reason why children of coach's often excel at their sport. They have unlimited access to coaching anytime they want it. The WVB...

Re: WVSSAC
According to that article the "year round access" measure barely passed the WVSSAC by a vote of 54-53, so I am not sure how much the SSAC supports a year round coaching system, but it appears that they are at least more open to it than the WVBOE is. Along with letting the SSAC know how we ...

Re: Board Shorts/Compression Shirt vs Singlets
Anyone saying kids who wont come out because they do not want to wear a singlet do not have the mindset to wrestle to begin with...you are trying to oversimplify it...with a "we're tough wrestlers mentality" First, if they are young, its the parents who would be opting to not have their k...

Re: Board Shorts/Compression Shirt vs Singlets
I don't like the loose-fitting shorts. I envision broken fingers, hands getting stuck in them, feet getting stuck in them while trying to put a leg in, etc. if they were snug fitting like compression shorts then I would be OK with it, but loose fitting makes me cringe. Wearing looser clothing in pra...

Congratulations to Jordan Williams

Re: One coaches perspective of this weekend's WVYWA tournament
And what about a few wrestlers who are entered as independent and have their fathers as coach? Will they be allowed a pass since that is the wrestler's coach? The few that I know are good guys and know wrestling. So there's that question as well... I am my son's coach and have been since he started...

Re: One coaches perspective of this weekend's WVYWA tournament
Three bands are not nearly enough. It should be based on how many kids qualify. Because with 8 mats and a team with a lot of kids could be up on multiple mats, but I agree with your point on the bands. I don't see why not. 3 bands = 3 coaches. There was only 8 mats at WVYWA and two of them were mid...

Re: One coaches perspective of this weekend's WVYWA tournament
I think coach passes are a good idea. I like what they do at the Mason-Dixon Conference championships. They give you a neon colored wrist band like the kind you get at the hospital that you have to rip off to remove. Give each head coach an allotment of 3 and that is it. You gotta have one on to be ...

I was wondering if it was something the program couldn't fix. It's def. alot of work! Guess there's luck of the draw in there and as ive heard many people say before.. "If you are the best it dont matter who or how many times you wrestle!" You fix it by not using Track Wrestling. Track Wr...

Re: Only one issue
the one thing I noticed with the brackets was there were a lot of forfeits leading to possible unfair advantage......BUT how do you fix it? They discussed that in the coach's meeting. They had the brackets set and then several people didn't show up for weigh-ins. Something about Track Wrestling's s...

I didn't get in until right before 10 and my family and I sat 5 rows from the front right at mats 6/8. Not sure why anyone else had a hard time getting good seats. There were empty seats beside of and in front of me. As for the "reserved" tape that was up, be angry at whoever did that, not...

Was there anyone taking professional pictures of the kids that placed today (3-20-16) and can we order them?
