Attack of the spambots

In the last two weeks there have been two attacks on this forum by spambots. That is, malicious programs that work their way into forums and post advertisements for everything from home repairs to Viagra.
The spambots are getting craftier, and are finding ways to work around the usual security measures.
When these attacks occur, we do our best to clean them up, ban the ip addresses and emails, etc. but it is probably a losing battle.
Soooo, when you see a flurry of weird stuff on the forum, that is what it is.
