While I patently wait to see A/AA Seeding Here are the AAA Regions.* edit* AAA Region 1 now included

Region 1 has 81 wrestlers averaging 5.8 wrestlers per weight.
Region 2 has 75 wrestlers averaging 5.4 wrestlers per weight.
Region 3 has 70 wrestlers averaging 5 wrestlers per weight.
Region 4 has 90 wrestlers averaging 6.4 wrestlers per weight

152 & 285 are most populated with 26 wrestlers.
220 is least populated with 18 wrestlers.

106 = 20
113 = 22
120 = 24
126 = 22
132 = 23
138 = 22
145 = 23
152 = 26
160 = 23
170 = 21
182 = 23
195 = 23
220 = 18
285 = 26

9 weight classes have situations where you show up and qualify. In all of those weight classes (except 220) Region 4 has multiple kids staying home.

A school like Hurricane or Spring Valley vaults into the top 5 poll by switching regions with wheeling park, university, GW, or Greenbrier East while those schools fall out of the top 5 based on qualifying numbers for state.

It is a sad showing for AAA wrestling. I follow AA more closely and our problem is bad dual events because of forfeits. I do not have an answer for A/AA or AAA. No matter how you divide regions up AAA numbers are bad. AAA programs better improve on recruiting new wrestlers and retaining the ones coming up from the youth level or the sport will die.

One misstep doesn’t show lack of knowledge. And I agree with the post. Every team in region 4 would benefit being in another region. By benefit I mean increase their chances at qualifying more kids.

In a regional do over, the best starting point is to take the current AAA region 4 teams and break them apart somehow into 3 regions.

Separating South and Parkersburg is a must. The traditionalists do not want to do this. These two teams do not need to stay together in the same region.

I also noticed how low 220 is but I was waiting for region one's information before commenting. I wonder what is the determining factor in AAA that could be clearing out 220????? I noticed early in the season where one wrestler cut down to 195 but then quickly jumped back to 285. Another wrestler who had been 220 all season cut down to 195 recently, didn't appear to do very well and now they have returned to 220.

I think we all know why 220 cleared out but I also don’t see those clearing out are going to win titles at the weights they went to. Hwt is tough on top and not giving away a state title this year.
