I have no idea if this is why, but my son's middle school faced Cameron Middle several times last year and their numbers were way down. One of the other coaches was telling me how Cameron Middle used to have a big team, and if memory serves me correctly, they were down to like 7 or 8 wrestlers.

This is a prime example of the current state and likely direction high school wrestling is heading in here in WV.

Continue as usual and track the team scores. However, let the B and C teamers wrestle. Wrestling is an individual sport first, team sport second.

Perfect example: Capital and South Charleston High Schools. Both teams have 3 wrestlers each. They are not going to accomplish anything in terms of team scores. However, they each have three individuals that might accomplish something.
