Marshall University needs to get off of their A#@ and start a wrestling team.
AB did it.
WV Tech did it.
Bluefield State is doing it.
Just what is the problem in Huntington?

Bluefield College is doing it. Bluefield State is my alum, so I got excited when I saw the post that Bluefield College was starting a team until I realized it was not Bluefield State College.
I agree. Marshall needs to get with the plan. If small schools like West Lib, Alderson-Broaddus and WJU can manage a team then Marshall has no excuse.

Marshall used to have a wrestling team. I've got no idea what happened to it.
http://www.e-yearbook.com/yearbooks/Mar ... e_161.htmlI saw in their yearbook that Darel Pickenpaugh was the coach. I believe he used to coach at Greenbrier East, back in the day, as well.
I bet he has an idea of what happened to the program.

If Marshall University would consider getting a wrestling program organized and finalized, they should only look within their own city to hire a coach, get Rob Archer to be the coach.

Ya learn something new every day. You are correct, Coach Pickenpaugh did coach at East until around 2011 or 2012. I had no idea he coached for Marshall. He never mentioned it a single time.
I was thinking I remembered something about someone trying to start a team a few years ago. I looked back and found this thread
viewtopic.php?t=572 that says Title IX killed their old program. Marshall's "Quick Facts" page says they still have a club team.
