Super 35

Postby Bearhugger » Mon Oct 23, 2017 11:39 pm

With weigh ins 4 days away, West Virginia has Super 35 registered for Super 32.

Trivia:

1. Two wrestlers have gone UP one weight class since registering.

2. Two wrestlers have gone DOWN one weight class since registering.

3. Per current registration, 126 has the following entries: 3x finalist/2x state champion Whorton/EF, 2x finalist/state champion Smith/Point, 3rd place/state champion Lusher/Indy, Runner Up Roberts/South, State champion Hall/Oak Glen, State champion Miller/Musselman.

Moving from 132 to 126 has absolutely no advantage. Looking thru the out of state wrestlers we know is ludicrous. Sammy Hillegas, Julian Chlebove, Jordan Crace, Beau Bartlett, Mick Burnett, Colton Camacho, Jakob Camacho, Justin Rivera, Louis Newell,Dylan DiEmelio,Ed Scott. Gladiator teammate Jacob Ealy. Wv wrestlers include Brock Whorton, Brayden Roberts , Joey Miller, Liam Lusher and George Smith. Many others I have heard of but the ones I’ve mentioned I know very well except for 2-3. One kid I never heard of but his name caught my eye is Deuce Brown. Peyton Hall better be on his horse in this slaughter house of a bracket. Holy Sheep Dip!!!

Lots of big names mentioned. Many of the top small wrestlers hang around 126 as Seniors to wrestle the first weight class in college (125).

I'm pretty sure Deuce Brown was an OHSAA middle school state champ last year.

All of these WV wrestlers going up/down to 126 has a huuuuuuuge advantage. It will pile more WV wrestlers to the same group of mats. Easier to watch.

132 has 15 of the top 20 ranked wrestlers in it. There is 4 state champs just from Wv.
Might be why kids are moving down to 126.

If there was no advantage then why move? Looks to me like the weight classes are loaded with talent. If your son matches up better with the 126 list than he does the 132 list there is no reason to worry about what people in wv think. They probably will not be helping with his college costs. Say that you like his odds at 126 better and placing is important to him or you. No big deal.

Did you do this same analysis for 126?

Over a month ago, I did and 126 had numerous ranked wrestlers. 126 and 132 are going to be tough in WV and they are going to be tough nationwide.

It's Super 32. The toughest folkstyle tournament in the country. Every weight class is insane! There is no "easier" weight class at this level. Its all about optimal performance weight for a tournament like this. It would be difficult to predict the placers in any weight class. Even the best in the country won't place here if they don't bring their "A" game. There will be MANY state champs that don't place and some that won't win a match. Hopefully the WV boys show up and represent WV well. Good luck to all!!!
