WEST VIRGINIA GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
FEB 8TH, 2020 at PARKERSBURG SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL

• Correction: Make checks payable to “PSHS Athletics”. You may pay upon arrival.
o $25 per wrestler or $200 per team

• We will be giving a two-pound allowance from the base weight.

• Awards – top four placers, plaque for 1st place team each division.

• Round Robin brackets will be wrestled to maximize mat time
o 6 or less = 6-person round robin
o 7-8 wrestlers = 2 round robin pools of 3-4 wrestlers, top two advance to championship pool (1st-4th place), bottom two will wrestle in a non-placing consolation pool.
o 9-10 wrestlers = 2 pools of 4-5, pool winners will wrestle for 1st, pool runner-ups will wrestle for 3rd. Other pool placers will match up.
o 11-12 wrestlers = 3 pools of 3-4, pool winners advance to championship pool (1st-3rd place), consolation pool A will wrestle for 4 fourth place, non-place consolation B and C pool will be wrestled.
o Small weight classes may be combined with neighboring weight class. Weight class winners and placers will be honored. We will try to avoid best 2 out of 3 and still get everyone at least 3 matches if possible.

• Tournament scoring will be used. (no points for byes)
o Win = 2 points
o Major = 1 bonus point
o Tech Fall = 1.5 bonus point
o Pin/Forfeit/Default/DQ = 2 bonus points

• Placing top four. Points will be added at the end of the tournament.
o First place = 14 points
o Second place = 10 points
o Third place = 7 points
o Fourth place = 4 points

• Tie-breaker
o 2 wrestlers – head to head
o 3+ wrestlers
--  1 - Tournament points scored
--  2 – Pills will be drawn. Low number advances.

Hopefully this covers all the basics. Please bring up any other concerns and the committee will try to address them. This is our first year trying this so please be patient with us during these growing pains. Pre-registration at the High School level has been tremendous. The Middle School is a bit slow but will hopefully pick up by end of the weekend.
