Other than HWT, I think it would tough to predict what weights these kids will actually wrestle once the season begins.

I understand what you are saying, but if watched last year you and off season have a good idea where wrestlers will be.

A lot of kids bodies change 7 to 8 grade. Shoot some of these 8th graders will be at a given weight Nov. 1st and come January 1st can hit a big growth spurt be another 10 lbs. I just hate to see parents allow cutting 3+ lbs..

How can you have predictions when not

all kids have a Middle School to wrestle for.. How do you gauge the accuracy? A lot of good wrestlers in the state do not have a Middle School program. Another problem some Middle Schools athletes will not participate in the WVYWA Championship. How do you gauge the best in state?

I would say this post is probably more geared for the Middle Schools. Although it is an open forum so I would think if you have a wrestler that might be a worthy candidate that is in Middle School but wrestle opens only, mention them. For the sake of argument several that have been mentioned are pretty darn good. Raike, Freeman ,Wright, Bartley, Moses Eades, Mullet

I'm confused, wasn't Raike an Eighth-Grader last year?

Oh the days of Middle school predictions. I remember them well. As I parent I wanted to just see my kid was in someones view. I didnt realize that in the 6th grade he would go on to be a WV State Champion. With that said I can now look from the outside in with no dog in the fight. So here is my predictions for some of the classes. At 102 for the best wrestler in the state would have to be Isaac Harris from Warmsprings MS. A true offseason guy that puts in the work. I have watched him over the years and would def wager on a 1st place spot. We will see him in action and contested at blennerhasset and the Quest.

138 Evan Thompson from Warm Springs MS best in state? Not sure but I saw him eliminate kids last year at the mason dixon left and right. He is a pinning machine and deserves the respect of a top notch MS wrestler

285 Aaron Armetrout Warm Springs WOW is all I can say. Im 6'3 240lb contractor and not sure if I would mess with this big guy. Not too much bear huggin goin on here. He will straight up wrestle you.

Good Luck to all

I have to ask where these were last year ? Where was the 285lb for example ? I know where the Mullet kid was as a 7th grader, was winning the WSAZ’s... Big prediction at the 102lb weight class with Gage Wright sitting there at 102 lb, and let’s mention another 102lb 6 th grader that is not Wrestling MS by the name of Brock Kehler. I know I would put my wager on either of them.

Last year at WSAZ's:
Thompson 5th@123
Armentrout 5th@285
