WVU Coaches Clinic Ft. Myles Amine - Oct. 22-23

Postby KBratke » Tue Sep 07, 2021 10:39 am

WVU Wrestling is excited to announce this year's Coaches Clinic will take place October 22-23 in Morgantown, and will feature 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Myles Amine. The four-time All-American will teach a technique session and then will speak and be able to answer any questions that you have.

This year's clinic will also feature a WVSSAC rules clinic that allows West Virginia coaches to knock out that requirement. There will be a coaches social on Friday night, and each member of the WVU staff will teach and be available for questions. Below is a look at what the schedule will look like.

Friday, October 22
4:30-5:00p - Registration
5:00-6:45p - WVSSAC Wrestling Rules Clinic
7:00-8:00p - Session I - Tim Flynn
8:00-9:00p - Session II - Muhamed McBryde
9:15p - Coaches Social

Saturday, October 23
10:00-11:00a - Session III - Myles Amine
11:00-11:30a - Session IV - Myles Amine Speech and Q&A
11:30a-12:30p - Lunch Break
12:30-1:00p - Session V - Tim Flynn Speech and Q&A
1:00-2:00p - Session VI - Cliff Moore/Mitchell Port

Kyle, will you be going to Super 32 to scout talent whereas it is the same weekend as this coaches clinic?

it is cool we’re bringing in Michigan’s 184 to give a clinic to our coaches. I’ve never seen that before, bringing in someone who our wrestlers might compete against to do a clinic for our coaches. If I were Michigan Coach Bormet I would be concerned that this staff will learn Myles’s secrets and coach our 184 up to beat him at NCAA’s.
I must disagree with you this time Bearhugger, Operation Scout Myles to win 184 is a better strategy than Operation Drive Miles to recruit at super 32.

You have a valid point. We can always watch videos on Flo of Super 32.

Yes, either Coach Port or Coach Moore will be attending Super 32. That's why there is a slash between their names for the final session. My former employer, FloWrestling, also makes it very easy to watch everything we need to live and on-demand.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have unfortunately decided to cancel this year's coaches clinic. The WVSSAC rules meeting that we were going to open with canceled on us due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases around the state, and with our season coming up, and increased precautions around the University, we thought it would be best to try again next year.

I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused. I will be sure to keep you in the loop of all upcoming events, and we hope to see you in the Coliseum this season for some duals.
