WVU's Cottrell & Smith in Big XII Finals

At 165, Dylan Cottrell defeated Breitenbach of Iowa State 8-1 and Fogarty of North Dakota State 11-4. Cottrell faces Chandler Rogers of Oklahoma State in the finals.
At 197, Jake Smith defeated Harrington of Iowa State 9-5 and Johnson of Oklahoma 4-1. Smith faces Preston Weigel of Oklahoma State in the finals.

Jake's opponent shot a single. Jake sprawled and his knee got caught under him. Match was stopped and he had to be helped to the locker room. Couldn't put any weight on the leg.

I don't think so. I looked like he hyperextend his knee. I think we will have to wait for NCAA seeding before we here if he will be able to wrestle or not.

I have seen on 2 other sites today that he did break his leg...I hope it is not true but coming from 2 different sources doesn't look good...feel bad for the kid injuries past 2 yrs around same time, at least he has one more yr though and this isn't his senior yr

He posted bittersweet on his Twitter which I would take to mean that he is out. Really feel bad for him. Hope he can come back next year healthy.

Mr. Smith posted a photo to instagram with a cast on his leg with the caption "great". Sad to see but hope for a speedy recovery.
