Comments:
The match started with the 140-pound weight class. Despite the loss, John Marshall got good efforts from several wrestlers. Logan Hartle (112) overcame a 4-2 deficit to win 6-4 over Travis Townsend. Dustin Richey (145) prevented an overtime match with Felix Osuna Cotto by scoring a takedown with 26 seconds left to win 4-2. Josh Ewing (189) gave the Monarchs an extra team point as he scored a two-point nearfall in the final two seconds of his match with Curt Radcliff to win by major decision, 12-4. The 152-pound matchup between John Marshall's Corey Adkins and South's Sean Smith didn't take place as Smith is nursing a knee injury and is expected to sit out a while, possibly until the regional tournament.
