Comments: The marquee showdown of the night came in the second match when Wiggers, a two-time Tri-Valley Conference champion, squared off against St. Marys' C.D. Cox, who is ranked first in his weight class in the Mountain State. When the dust settled on the match the Golden Eagle had doubled up his Blue Devil counterpart, 8-4. Cox did score the first takedown for an early 2-0 cushion, but he later had to take some injury time for his right shoulder. Wiggers tied the match late in the first period when he managed to hoist Cox in the air and take him to the mat for a reversal. Despite having a cradle locked in, Wiggers didn't even garner any near fall points because the clock expired. Following a pair of Cox escapes along with a Wiggers takedown in the second period, the match was even at 4 entering the third. With Wiggers in the down position, Cox was assessed a technical violation for grabbing inside one of Wiggers' shoes with about 40 seconds remaining and following an escape the Golden Eagle had all the points he ended up needing. "I didn't even realize it," said the now 22-1 Wiggers of the technical violation. "I've been excited all day. I knew it was going to be a tough match. "I didn't really know what to expect because I hadn't seen him wrestle. I'm still trying to get in shape and get ready for sectionals and districts."
