Cameron High School is proof that small schools can wrestle big. One of the smallest public schools in West Virginia with a wrestling program (approximately 390 students in grades 7-12), Cameron has been West Virginia A/AA State Champions four times (1991-1994), and runner up three times (1985, 2001, 2004). Cameron has also been third in the state 3 times from 1998 to 2000.

Jim Potts was the head coach from 1975 to 2005 and has recently come out of retirement to coach the Cameron Junior High squad. Coach Potts was named OVAC coach of the year 15 times, West Virginia A/AA coach of the year 5 times and West Virginia coach of the year 5 times. During his tenure the Dragons compiled a 363-94-4 dual meet record and crowned 34 individual state champions.
