The Hedgesville Eagles have been in the wrestling business since 1981,
and under the guidance of Bill Whittington from 1984 through 2007.
Since 1984, Hedgesville has had at least 2 state qualifiers each year
and has produced 5 state champions. Robert Jarrett won titles in 1989
and 1990 in the 171 lb. weight class. Anthony Regalbuto also has two
titles, the first in 1999 at the 125 lb. weight class, and the second
in 2000 in the 145 lb. weight class, and Danny Lord won in 2002 in the
145 lb. weight class. Also under Coach Whittington, the 2000 Eagle
squad posted Hedgesville's first undefeated season with a dual match
record of 31-0. The 2001 Eagle squad finished with a 30-2 record and
made history by being the first team to win the Region II AAA title
outside of Marion County.
The 2009-2010 Eagles look to carry on the strong tradition of
Hedgesville Wrestling. The team will be lead by state placer Mike
Cardello, as well as state qualifiers Jesse Kemmerer, John Cardello,
Steven Miele, and Travis Wheat. In addition several freshmen and JV
wrestlers will be rounding out the lineup, that will wrestle our always
strong schedule.
