Huntington High School opened its doors for the first time in 1996 as a consolidation of Huntington and Huntington East High Schools.

The Huntington High wrestling program is one of the top programs in the state every year. Legendary Coach Bill Archer was the school's first state champion, then brought the program from anonymity to a perrenial leader as head coach from 1971-2006. HHS has crowned 27 individual state champions and numerous state placers. Huntington High and Huntington East consolidated in 1996 to form the new Huntington High.

Coach Rob Archer took over the program for the 2006-2007 season after an 8-year stint as an assistant to his father. Coach Rob Archer (HHS class of '93) was a high school all-american and a 4-year varsity letterwinner and Big 10 placewinner at Ohio State University.

Coach Archer is assisted by HHS grads: Robert St. Clair (HHS '84), John Dempsey (HHS '90), Randy Edrington (HHS '92), Jeremy Ray (HHS '03), Zack Fraley (HHS '06). The HHS program is strongly supported by its alumni and booster club.

HHS is fed by local Middle Schools: Huntington Middle, Beverly Hills, and Enslow. The Huntington Ponies feed the middle schools as the YMCA Peewee program.
