ERIE, Pa. - No. 12 West Liberty State scored a pair of pins in the middle weights to break open a close dual and take a 25-13 final from No. 11 Mercyhurst at the MAC.
The Lakers fell behind 10-0 entering the bout at 149, but and Andy Lamancusa notched back-to-back wins to cut it to 10-7. Zanetta, wrestling up a weight, notched an impressive 15-3 win over Joey Hagedorn to get Mercyhurst on the board. Lamancusa followed with a 6-1 decision at 157 over Brad Steinbach.
After the Hilltoppers notched a pin at 165, No. 4 Zack Schafer and No. 6 Tommy Clark squared off at 174. In a see-saw bout, the two wrestlers battled back and forth. Schafer fell behind 6-3 before taking the lead, but Clark scored the 9-8 final to put West Liberty ahead 19-7.
West Liberty scored another win by fall at 184, before the Lakers claimed decisions in the final two bouts. Trevor Gallo notched a 9-2 win at 197 and Kenny Bluska scored a flurry of late points to capture a 5-1 victory at heavyweight.
