No. 9 West Liberty Drops Home Dual

January 22, 2013

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty's Danny Doyle closed out the action with a major decision at 197 pounds Tuesday night but it was too little, too late for the No. 9-ranked Hilltoppers, who came away on the short end of a 25-16 decision against unranked Seton Hill at the ASRC.

West Liberty (3-2) dug itself into an early 19-0 hole after the Griffins (6-6) swept the first four weight classes with a forfeit, a fall, a major decision and a decision.

Art Hobley stopped the bleeding for the Hilltoppers with a 4-2 decision against Adam Moranduzzo at 157 pounds but Seton Hill wrapped shutout wins around a 4-3 victory by WLU's Jordan Nolan at 174 to put the match out of reach.

Doyle's 10-2 victory at 197 and a forfeit win at 285 reduced the final deficit for the hosts.

West Liberty will try to bounce back this weekend when the Hilltoppers head south to compete in the East Coast Duals, which are being hosted by Newberry (S.C.) on Friday and Saturday.
