HILLTOPPER WRESTLERS FALL AT TIFFIN

February 9, 2013

TIFFIN, Ohio – Host Tiffin took advantage of a fast start and a pair of forfeits to hand the injury-riddled West Liberty wrestling team a 34-12 loss here Saturday night.

The Dragons (6-7) got two decisions and a fall in the first three matches which combined with the forfeits at the 165 pound and 285 pound slots to effectively give the home team a quick 24-0 lead.

The Hilltoppers (4-10) rebounded with wins in the next three matches, getting a second-period fall from Dan Carpenter at 149 pounds and decisions from Art Hobley (157) and Ben Giles (174).

That was as close as the Black and Gold could come, however, as Tiffin closed out the night with a fall and a major decision in the final two bouts.

West Liberty closes out its home slate on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match against Ashland.
