PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team cruised to 33-13 victory against a short-handed Ohio Valley University team here Tuesday night at the Parkersburg High School Fieldhouse.

Coach Mitch Smith's Hilltoppers (4-8) lost only two matches all night against the Fighting Scots (3-3), who spotted the visitors an 18-0 head start with forfeits at the first three weights and never got back in the match.

West Liberty 149-pounder Cole Nace pushed that lead to 22-0 with a 14-6 major decision against Sam Phillips before OVU finally got on the board with a narrow one-point decision at 157 and a major decision at 165.

Regionally-ranked 174-pounder DeMadre Turner got the Hilltoppers back on track, wrapping up a 15-0 technical fall less than a minute into the second period of his match.

Dan Carpenter and Eric VandenBossche tacked on decisions at 184 and 197, respectively, to close out the match. The Fighting Scots picked up a forfeit at 285 to conclude the scoring.

The Black and Gold head to Greensburg, Pa. on Saturday for a 7 p.m. dual against Seton Hill.
