Wrestlers Rise in the Rankings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., (January 5, 2000) West Virginia University's wrestling team moved up one spot to the fifteenth position in the latest edition of Intermat Wrestling's poll. WVU also stayed in the fifteenth position in the latest edition of the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll.

Five Mountaineers are also ranked by the Intermat poll. They are 125-lb. senior Angelo Zegarelli (Deer Park, N.Y.) at No. 17 with a 12-3 record; 133-lb. senior Bob Patnesky (Canonsburg, Pa.) at No. 17 with a 12-2 record; 157-lb sophomore Joe Carr (Lexington, Ky.) at No. 14 with an 18-4 record; 184-lb. senior Vertus Jones (Slickville, Pa.) at No. 3 with a 15-0 mark; and senior heavyweight Sean Hage (Marietta, Ga.) at No. 6 with a 11-2 record.

West Virginia (1-0, 1-0) is back in action against EWL opponent Bloomsburg, Friday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. in the WVU Shell Building. (**Please note that the time has been moved up one hour from 7 p.m.)
