KEHLER TO COMPETE IN NWCA ALL-STAR CLASSIC

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 8, 2000) – West Virginia heavyweight wrestler Ryan Kehler has been selected to compete in the prestigious National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic, January 29, at 6:30 p.m., at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.

In its 34th year of existence, the Classic pits the nation's top two ranked wrestlers in each of the 10 weight class.

Kehler, a Klingerstown, Pa., native leads the Mountaineers with an 18-2 record and will face Ohio State redshirt freshman Tommy Rowlands, who is 20-2 on the season. Rowlands, recently ranked No. 1 by Amateur Wrestling News and Intermatwrestle.com, defeated Kehler earlier this season at the Midlands Tournament in Chicago, 6-4 in sudden victory.

"I'm excited," said Kehler. "This is an opportunity that I never thought would be presented to me. It's an honor and a privilege."

"Only our very best have been fortunate to participate in this event," coach Craig Turnbull said. "It's a wonderful event that showcases the best of collegiate wrestling. Ryan's hard work and patience over the last few years are starting to surface and pay off. This is great recognition for him."

Kehler becomes just the eighth Mountaineer to compete in the event. Mountaineer NWCA All-Star Classic Participants
