LOCK HAVEN DOWNS WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 3, 2001) – West Virginia's wrestling team lost to No. 14 Lock Haven 33-12 in an EWL matchup at the WVU Coliseum tonight.

The Bald Eagles (18-1, 4-0) won eight of ten matches, including four in a row to seal the victory.

Juniors Joe Carr and Ryan Kehler provided the only scoring on the evening for the Mountaineers (4-5, 1-3). Carr, a Lexington, Ky., native pinned Lock Haven's Jason Gilligan at 1:28 in the first period to give the Mountaineers their only lead of the night at 6-0. The pin was Carr's second of the season. He is now 16-4 on the year, is 9-0 in dual meet action and leads the team with 38 dual meet team points.

Kehler won his 23rd victory of the season by way of a forfeit. The native of Klingerstown, Pa., is just three victories shy of being tied for second on WVU's all-time heavyweight seasonal wins list.

The Mountaineers are back in action, Friday, February 9, at 7:30 p.m., when the play host to Ohio at the WVU Coliseum.
