LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The ninth-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (4-3, 3-0) reeled off six straight victories from 141-184, including four major decisions, to knock off Lock Haven (10-9, 1-3) 31-8 Friday night at Thomas Field House. The match started at 125 where LHU's Jim Collins struck first with a takedown, but No.17 Seth Lisa escaped and scored a takedown to end the period 3-2. The second period went almost identical to the first, with Collins scoring the first takedown in the period before Lisa countered with an escape and another takedown. Lisa scored a reversal to start third to secure the 8-4 decision for the Mountaineers.

Lock Haven's Justin Owens took the lead back with a major decision victory at 133, 12-3 over Troy Forte. Thirteenth-ranked Shane Cunanan scored 10 takedowns and a reversal in a dominating 24-11 major decision over John Hulsinger to record his 20th victory of the season. Hulsinger was wrestling in place of an injured Mike Maney.

Billy Smith extended the Mountaineer lead to 11-4 in a workman-like 12-2 major decision over James LaValle at 149. Smith scored three takedowns and two near fall points and did not allow a takedown in the match. Mike Torriero (157) picked up WVU's third major decision in a row with another 12-2 victory.

At 184, WVU's Ryan Wilman and LHU's Mike Greenberg traded escapes to start the second and third periods before Wilman scored a takedown with 10 seconds remaining to record the victory.

Lock Haven's Morgan Horner ended the WVU run at 197 with a 15-7 major decision over Adrian Thompson. Horner took down Thompson and scored three near fall points which proved to be the major difference in the match although Thompson battled for a reversal and two takedowns in the match.
