No. 10 EDINBORO DOWNS WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 16, 2001) – West Virginia's wrestling team lost to No. 10 Edinboro 38-6 in an EWL matchup at the WVU Coliseum, tonight.

West Virginia (4-8, 1-5) won just two matches on the evening, highlighted by No. 15 Joe Carr's upset of 2000 NCAA All-American and No. 9 ranked Shaun Shapert. Freshman Anthony Regalbuto defeated Chad Caros, 7-5 in overtime. Carr and Regalbuto are now 18-5 and 6-5, respectively, on the season.

No. 7 Ryan Kehler lost a close match to Edinboro's Josh Pearce, 5-3. Kehler is now 25-5 on the season.

Edinboro (11-3-1, 6-0-1) is now unbeaten in 22 straight EWL matches (21-0-1). The Fighting Scots also wrapped up there third straight EWL regular season dual meet championship and their sixth in the last eight years.

West Virginia closes out its dual meet season at home Sunday, February 18, at 3:00 p.m. when they host EWL foe Cleveland State.
