Ready For Pair of Home Meets

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. * The 12th-ranked West Virginia University wrestling team hosts 13th-ranked Penn State and Eastern Wrestling League foe Bloomsburg on Sat., Jan. 10, and Sun., Jan. 11, at the WVU Coliseum to open the home dual meet season.

The Mountaineers (1-1,0-0) will battle the Nittany Lions (2-0, 0-0) at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. PSU, who finished sixth at the 2003 NCAAs, return 11 letterman including two All-Americans. Penn State owns a 21-7 lead in the series but West Virginia has won the last three, including a 23-15 victory in Morgantown in 2002.

A home match with Bloomsburg (3-4, 0-1) is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday to begin conference action for West Virginia. Bloomsburg returns three individuals who placed in the top six at last year's EWL Tournament. WVU holds a 12-11-1 mark all-time against BU and swept the Huskies in all 10 matches last year, winning 34-0.

Both WVU opponents have one dual meet before traveling to Morgantown this weekend. Bloomsburg will face Cornell in dual meet action on Thu., Jan. 8, while Penn State travels to Pitt on Fri., Jan. 9.

The Mountaineers next travel to the 2004 NWCA National Duals on Jan. 17-18, in Cleveland, Ohio.
