MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University today announced the hiring of former three-time national champion wrestler Greg Jones as assistant wrestling coach.

The Slickville, Pa., native takes over for former assistant coach Zeke Jones, who accepted the head coaching job at Pennsylvania earlier this week.

"We are very proud to have our greatest collegiate wrestler now our assistant wrestling coach working with our student-athletes," WVU Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong said. "Greg will be an excellent coach and a fine representative of West Virginia University."

"I'm excited about the opportunity to still be a part of the wrestling program here at WVU and to keep helping it grow," Jones said.

During his Mountaineer career, Jones became one of only 20 wrestlers in NCAA history to win national titles at two different weight classes. The 6-1 grappler won a title as a freshman at 174 pounds and two more as a junior and senior at 184 pounds. He is also a four-time Eastern Wrestling League champion and WVU's all-time leader in wins with a 126-4 record.
