Tech drops home dual to Averett

AT WVU Tech, Van Meter Gym, Beckley, WV

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Golden Bear wrestling dropped a dual, 34-10, to Averett University Tuesday evening in Van Meter Gym. WVU Tech now holds a record of 4-8 while the Cougars move to 7-10.

The Gold and Blue earned four victories against Averett while the Cougars won six of the weight classes.

Senior Tristan Bean, at 133 lbs. picked up Tech's first win, defeating Easton Halliday with an 8-4 decision.

At 149 lbs, sophomore Devin Wilhelm grappled to a 5-2 decision over Caleb Harmon.

Freshman Tucker Lawson took down Craig Lewis at 174 lbs. with a 13-8 major decision.

Freshman Christian Liveley produced Tech's final win of the night, recording a 10-4 decision over Tavon Blowe.

The team will next compete and celebrate its seniors on Saturday, February 9. The celebration is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:45 a.m. in Van Meter Gym.
