WVU Tech wrestling finishes third at AAC Championship

CLEVELAND, Georgia -- WVU Tech wrestling finished third during the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship Saturday to finish out its 2018-19 campaign. Defending champions, Reinhardt University, took the title with 190 team points while the Golden Bears scored 91 team points.

With seven top five finishes, the Gold and Blue finished third overall.

Gold and Blue Highlights by Weight Class:

125 lbs. -- Neko Aquilina finished sixth to score 4.0 team points after finishing 1-2.

133 lbs. -- Tristan Bean placed second towards 12.0 team points and was 2-1.

141 lbs. -- Logan Robertson was second and marked 13.0 team points, finishing 2-1.

149 lbs. -- Devin Wilhelm was 3-1 on the day, picking up 11.5 team points and a third place showing.

157 lbs. -- Leland Swafford grappled to a sixth place showing, 6.5 team points and a 1-2 day.

157 lbs. -- Clay Fritz finished fourth towards 8.0 team points and a 2-2 record Saturday.

165 lbs. -- Cameron Crislip placed third and scored 11.5 team points after finishing 3-1.

174 lbs. -- Tucker Lawson scored 9.5 team points after finishing fourth and 2-2.

285 lbs. -- Christian Liveley picked up 6.5 team points, a sixth place showing and finished 1-2.

The Season: The team finished 4-9 in duals this season and will be graduating five seniors.
