8.HIRAM COX    4.ISAAC COX    1.GEORGE COX

 

    Hiram Cox, a son of Isaac and Elenora (Coen) Cox, was born in

Green County PA April 5, 1827 and died November 28, 1897.  He married

Emeline Steele August 30, 1846.  Emeline was born in PA March 4, 1830

and died May 21, 1872.

    Hiram married a widow, Martha Ellen (Roberts) Van Buren in Wood

County WV January 28, 1873.  Martha, a daughter of John A. and July A.

(Evans) Roberts, was born in Wetzel County VA (WV) August 26, 1847 and

died in Braxton County WV August 31, 1908.  She had married David

Martin Van Buren May 3, 1866.  David, a son of Tobias and Dorothy

(Digman) Van Buren, was born in Shocharia County NY about 1845 and

died there about 1872.

    Sometime between 1780 and 1880, Hiram and Martha moved from Wood

County to Gilmer County WV and at the time the census was enumerated

in 1800, they were living on Tanner's Fork of the Right Fork of Steer

Creek in Gilmer County WV at a place known locally as "The Ben Miller

Place" in 1994.  They built a two room log house and a water mill and

lived there until 1897, when they traded farms with George Miller and

moved to Mill Fork of the Right Fork of Steer Creek in Braxton County

WV.
